I guess you all know by now that I love sport!

During lockdown I have missed watching St. Cleer F.C. play, but there has been plenty of sport on TV. Lewis Hamilton has recently won the Formula One world championship for the seventh time. He has been breaking records all year and will continue to do so in the future.

At the recent Turkish grand prix, Hamilton had to finish in front of his teammate Valteri Bottas to win the world championship; but in true Lewis style that wasn’t enough, he had to win the race! This wasn’t going to be easy - it was raining and at the halfway point he was sixth with seemingly no hope of winning. With a combination of risk, skill, knowledge and experience he eventually made it to the chequered flag with tyres that were completely worn out!

“I’m a Celebrity get me out of here” has returned to our screens. A programme like Marmite - you either love it or hate it! The highlight so far for me was Russell Watson singing “Oh what a beautiful morning”. The object of the programme is to win and become King or Queen of the castle. Day to day it is more important to compete in the various trials and win meals for the hungry campers.

Although the daily death toll has still been shockingly high we have been receiving good news concerning the possibility of a vaccine working to combat the virus. It is so important that we keep our scientists and those in authority in our prayers. We will win through.

As Christmas approaches, remember Jesus didn’t look like a winner when he was born in a stable at Bethlehem. God has an amazing way of turning what looks like defeat into victory. Whatever happens over the next few weeks, look to Jesus for help. He will help us to win through this difficult winter.

With love to you all,

Martin
