Don't Ever Give Up!!

Denmark had the worst possible start to the European Championship finals. In their first game, one of their best players, Christian Eriksen, collapsed with a cardiac arrest. He was finally revived and is now recovering well. The match against Finland resumed after a couple of hours. The Danish players were unable to consecrate and lost the game. After two games they had no points and were on the verge of elimination. They went into their final group game against Russia having to win and hope that the other result went for them. They won the game in fine style 4 – 1 and qualified in second place.

Their next match was against Wales, which they won 4 – 0 and so (at the time of writing) they are in the quarter finals of the competition. They didn’t give up!

Don’t give up! In my building work, quite often I find that I have to adjust uPVC exterior doors. There are several small adjustments and when you get them right the doors will open, shut and lock easily. Obviously, adjusting one setting affects all the others and so sometimes it takes quite a while to get it right.

I have found that great patience brings good results. One of my favourite Bible verses is: “… and let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6 verse 9.

So don’t give up. Ask Jesus to help you; He understands the pressure to give in, to give up. He will help you to overcome whatever obstacle is before you.
